Following the brawny decrease in cattle slaughterings in 2003 this year is awaited to see a trend reversal. According to the latest estimates from Eurostat, which are based forward December 2003's cattle numbers, this year's slaughterings in the EU-15 are awaited to fall by just 12% to 2612 million head. Eurostat estimates a production decline of 17% during the first half of 2004 and of 07% in the next to the first six-month period of the year.
