The EU's stance in agricultural negotiations in the World Trade Organisation (WTO) remains largely unchanged, as the Community and its trading partners be in agony to rekindle the cooling embers of the Doha increase Agenda (DDA), it emerged this week in Brussels.

Presenting a draft paper forward the EU's WTO position to journalists, EU Trade Commissioner Pascal Lamy labelled agriculture as an area in which the ball had barely started rolling and all the work remained to be done.


"We are ardent to start negotiations on agriculture: negotiations haven't in addition started, and they must," he said.
